In the last few decades there has been considerable debate over the amount of money spent by governments for arts. There are a lot of arguments about whether the money should be invested in the arts like music and theaters or it is better to spend it for services and facilities that are needed for people.

To begin with, some people believe that it is neither correct nor necessary that government spends money for entertainment. They think that allocating funds for arts is like wasting money. This attitude is based on the belief that arts are not a necessity for individuals. In other words, there are more essential issues ranging from establishing health services to different schools that should be taken into account while spending money. In addition, if people do not meet their basic requirements, the existance of entertainment cannot be logical. For instance, a person who is suffering from a particular illness and cannot cure his or her disease due to the lack of health care facilities, investing money in arts is a waste of money.

I personally think that it is of vital importance to spend significant amount of money for public services. This is due to the fact that if efforts are not made to establish public facilities like medical clinics, the level of public health would decline considerably. For example, when hospitals cannot provide appropriate service to patients because of insufficient funds, the risk of developing fatal medical conditions would vastly increase among people. Another factor which is essential to point out is related to schools and education. In order to have well-educated children in a society, government should provide schools and other educational services with sufficient funds. Otherwise, society would suffer from the low level of education among its members.

However, in my point of view, the positive impact of arts cannot be denied. The society needs to be entertained especially in free times. There is no doubt that people enjoy to go to the theatre or listening to music in a concert hall. Therefore, determining a specific amount of money for arts can be the best way to satisfy these needs.

In conclusion, investing money for entertainment could positively contribute to the society. But, it is crucial to allocate large sums ofmoney for public facilities, consequently, we should probe to devise an appropriate plan that takes both needs into consideration.
