In many countries, the quality of life in the large cities is worsening. What possibly can cause this problem? What measures can be taken to resolve it?
The fact remains that the quality of life for citizens in big urban dwellings is falling. It cannot be denied that this is one of the most complicated issues in our modern society. Various reasons have been defined for this adverse trend. In my view, there is much that can be done to address this problem constructively.
First of all, it is undoubtedly true that the population growth taps fears among urban dwellers that their city is overcrowded. The vehicles, especially cars, are now dominant on the road. Traffic congestion certainly is the result of it and causing a serious problem for the environment - air pollution. In a report released recently, all four cities in Australia that were put on research recorded a drop on air quality. If this issue is not solved quickly, our health status will decline at an alarming rate and we will obviously be hindered from enjoying our life.
On top of that, the cost of living is definitely higher than ever before. It appears to be the result of widespread economy crisis. Government finds it hard to restrain inflation. Employees cannot pay for their daily expenses and other needs with their low wages. To cover increasing production costs, producers have to push their price up. Above examples show that it is much harder to "survive" in an environment which is full of pressure and struggles because everyone now has to find a way to earn more money to satisfy basic needs.
To tackle these problems, from my perspectives, the most obvious solution is for government to allocate funds to the construction of infrastructure in the rural areas. Only in this way, pressure on the major cities can be relieved and also living standard in the countryside can be enhanced. Furthermore, mass media have played an essential role in raising awareness of the public. Positive changes will not become possible without the construction of each individual.
In conclusion, various factors have caused the decline in the life quality in big cities. There should be solutions that must be implemented right away to combat this issue and improve our life.
