Given are figures providing a comparison of the proportion of music albums sales in Great Britain in different genre according to age and sex. It is evident from the information that the similar figures of pop and rock music are marked different as against to classical music.
As for all 3 different kinds, males are ahead of their female counterparts, for example, in pop music, it is just over 20% for the former compared to virtually 14% for the latter. The figures of different age groups in pop and rock music see a similar pattern. In these categories, the age group ranging from 25 to 34 ranks first, followed closely by 16-24-year-olds. People who are 45 years old and over come bottom, which is one-third as many as people in the 33-45 age group.
By stark contrast, to turn to classical music, while 20% of 45 and over age group purchase albums of this type, only practically 15% of people aging from 25 to 34 do so. There is a less remarkable discrepancy between the figures for the youngest age group and 35-44-year-olds, with merely 1% and 3% respectively.
