In many countries young people don’t choose the teaching profession. What do you think is the reason? What could be done to attract more students?
The choice to adopt teaching as a profession has been fading its charm. This is due to the fact that people started to choose other professions from a number of perspectives like financial and fame. In this essay, I contend reasons for this change and I will try to state some suggestions to motivate youngsters towards this profession.
The foremost reason is the lucrative nature of the young people. They want to go in a profession where they could find more financial incentives. For instance, doctors, lawyers and business man are earning more money as compared to a limited salary of teachers. The next cause of this trend is the competition. As every person wants to earn name and fame during his lifetime. Therefore, he starts to think himself as a complete package for the market and become a formidable contender. For example, teachers have their limited successful areas from an institution to a city. However, this limits their choice and mental ability to particular distance only. Eventually, no one likes to limit their professional life t o just few kilometres.
In fact, this situation has become a curse for the development of the society. So the real need is to take considerable steps in this regard. At very first level, the income level of teaching sector should be increased so that most of the young generation could not ignore this profession as their professional career. Secondly, the young intelligent and progressive teachers should be given incentives and reward certificates at nation and international wide so that this initiative will inspire the youth to not to ignore this profession.
