Essay topic:
Should wealthy nations be required to share their wealth among poorer nations by providing such things as food and education? Or is it the responsibility of the governments of poorer nations to look after their citizens themselves?
It is a fact that this third rock from the sun has 196 countries, but only eight countries (G8) are considered as the wealthiest developed countries and 65% of our world is still in poverty. Despite of these figures, other people believe that rich nations have an obligation to help poor nations particularly with food and education, However, for me I believe it is a major duty of the underdeveloped countries leader's to take care of their own people.
Undeniably any help from industrialized countries to the poorest of nations, will be greatly beneficial. There a lots of international programs, trying to improve the quality of life of unfortunate people, such as according to G8 their main focus since 2009, was to supply food globally most especially to the countries in need, but, unfortunately since then only 22% of the fund has been delivered. In addition to that, 10 years ago, the United nations for education made an educational program for all by 2015 but sadly to say it is unlikely to happen. In spite of all these things, poor countries remain poor.
What every country needs is good, clean governance, and love for the country. Governments should stop the corruption and start serving their citizens genuinely. People should also love their own country by being a good citizen, who pay right taxes on time, help to enrich natural resources and use it for the progression of the country.
Take the case of Singapore. Five years ago this country was considered part of the underdeveloped world. Today, it is one of of the world's fastest growing economies, all the credits came from change of policies, such as Singapore should be a safe environment for everybody, lower taxation and free of corruption. A good example of this is if anyone is found guilty of corruption, they are faced with the death penalty law. Because of these things it became very appealing to international investors.
Therefore, I believe it is the responsibility and obligation of governments to improve the status of the country and support their own people. Because, every country has the potential to grow as long as the leader's of the poorest nations have no selfish desire and people have the willingness to achieve one common goal, then that is a sure way for a country to progress.
