Nowadays, travelling around the world is not a lifelong dream to the poor but an achievable reality to them. With just small amount of budgets, people are able to explore the world. However, there is a controversial fact-Should the visitors follow the local customs and behaviours when visiting other countries?Or should the host countries welcome cultural differences?

It is an undeniable fact that foreign visitors should abide by the local customs and behaviours as it maintains peace as well as harmony of the country. If there is any visitor go against the local cultures due to their irrespect, chaos would happen and local people would get offended as well. By following local customs and behaviours, visitors can broaden their horizon about the special cultures of other and learn their good attitudes and moral values too. For instance, when visitors go to Japan, they can enjoy their famous traditional cultures such as tea ceremony and learn the meanings of their different types of bowing methods.

On the other side, it is a good idea that host country should welcome cultural diversity. The host country should be more open-minded in welcoming the customs and cultures from other country. Instead of living in just a homogeneous society, the locals can learn to be tolerate in accepting foreign cultures. National unity can be achieved as well as international relations between countries can be improved. That is why government spend over millions in the students cultural exchange programmes every year to promote unity.

As a conclusion, in my opinion, foreign visitors should follow the local customs and behaviors when paying a visit to other countries. However, they can teach the locals their cultures and exchange their view of different cultures. This develops a closer relationship between the locals and foreigners. Thus, a better country with cultural assimilation can be built up.
