The chart below shows the total number of minutes (in billions) of telephone calls in the UK, divided into three categories, from 1995-2002

A glance at the graph provided reveals the trend in the amount of time that the UK residents spent on three different call types over a 7-year period. Obviously, while there was a decrease in the number of local category, the other two witnessed a period of growth.
More specifically, starting at just over 70 billion minutes in 1995, the total number of minutes made locally went up gradually and hit a peak of 90 billion minutes in 1999. Afterwards, there was a fractional decline in the number and it finished at the same level as in 1995. When it comes to national and international calls as well as mobiles calls, the amount of time rose, but in different paces as the former went up steadily and reached a high of approximately 60 billion minutes, whereas the latter saw a dramatic increase in the second half of the period.
Equally notably, during 7 years from 1995 to 2002, the local calls dominated in terms of the volume of time, followed by national, international calls and mobiles calls respectively. However, the gap among these three types narrowed over the years.
