Essay topic:
The position of women in society has changed markedly in the last twenty years. Many of the problems young people now experience, such as juvenile delinquency, arise from the fact that many married women now work and are not home to care for their children.
Some individuals share the belief that in order to solve the booming number of youth offenders, the women should stay at home, spend enormous time in taking care of children. Doing so, they would lessen the social issue in which young people are engaged.
Furthermore, some people still believe in the common expression "Mother knows best" Because, of the strong bond during gestation, mother's intuition is good for children even without knowing the persona of the child. In addition, some say that values begin at home, women should set a good example all the time; like helping the child to develop good deeds as a habit and preventing misdeeds. Despite the fact that being role model is hard to achieve, a human is bound to make mistakes, commit bad reactions to unpleasant conditions.
Having said that, I strong disagree, that women today should be like women 20 years ago. To avoid problems with the younger generation. Ideal parenting has nothing to do with whether or not the mother is working.Moreover, I do not believe it is the amount of time, rather it is the quality of time spent with the children that matters. For example, a mother spending the whole day with the kids, but allowing them to watch T.V. all day. Watching T.V helps them to enhance their cognitive skills but not responsibility and maturity.
As for me, there are various reasons why values do not begin at home; The people around them, the environment they live in,peer pressure and of course the availability of watching violent movies on television.Apart from this, women can contribute to the high financial demand in raising a family. Money can be used to send kids to reputable school where they can learn good values. Based on my experience, as a former stay at home mom, being a working mother gave me a sense of self worth, free from financial dependency. I retrieved my own self esteem and it made me a happier person. Personally speaking, a happy parent living in a home sweet home environment should produce a healthy and happy child with a positive attitude.
To conclude, quality not quantity time is essential to produce a responsible and dignified young generation today.
