Essay topic:
Young people in the modern world seem to have more power and influence than any previous generation.
Why is this the case? What impact does this have on the relationship between old and young people?
It is true that many world leaders and trendsetters nowadays are very young in comparison with people having the same social status in the past. Clearly, a number of reasons have been put forward for this tendency. This essay, therefore, will outline some potential causes as well as evaluating its effects on the relationship between generations.
To begin with, there are many plausible reasons leading to this situation. Firstly, improved living standards could be one of the obvious. No doubt children in the modern world have access to better education system along with cutting-edge facilities. This improvement is an advantage that the grey-haired did not have, helping the youth to discover their hidden talents and fully develop them sooner. Secondly, significant change in the attitude towards individuality is another cause. Admittedly, we are living in an open-minded world which allows young adults to express themselves and exchange ideas freely. Hence, there are more opportunities for adolescents to broaden their mind and influence others.
Additionally, the impacts of this emergent trend should not be overlooked. The generation gap may widen as young people have the ability to quickly adapt to changes while the elderly is likely to fall behind. For example, many old people probably find themselves incapable of using personal computer and thus, they feel a sense of isolation in an ever-changing socitey like today. Another possible consequence is that the youth does not pay respect to the previous generation as they have mone and fame. The fact remains that if a person has high position in the society, he or she is apt to look down on others, including senior citizens.
In conclusion, better quality of life and open-mindedness are twon main reasons that contribute to the higher social position of young adults. Besides, this trend also brings several negative influences, posing a threat the closeness of old and young residents.
