The development of university education system has been recognized as an improvement of both modernization and civilization. As a result the duties of higher education are constantly debated with one side claiming that its purpose is to support students to find a job and the opponents stating that it has a more profound meaning in our daily life. Personally, I believe that the purpose of higher education is more than finding jobs for students.
Admittedly, there is no doubt that university education plays a crucial role in job hunting. During their years spent in an university, youngsters are equipped with advanced knowledge, such as economy, psychology and archaeology and useful skills, such as communication skills, team work and writing skills. Internalized through university education, these knowledge and skills are transformed into competitive advantages, which are able to assist students to acquire a decent job.
Nevertheless, the responsibility of university is far from seeking jobs. It is beneficial for individuals. It be specific, young generations do not only achieve academic accomplishment but also foster their personality and characteristics during their staying in universities. That professors enlighten students on issues, such as how to be a good citizen and how to be a responsible human being is not uncommon in university. Through their lecture and discussions, lecturers impose positive messages into students' mind, shaping their personalities and dictating how their personalities develop.
In addition, university education also contributes to the society as a whole. First of all, by cultivating skilled and intelligent students, schools provide sophisticated scientists, politicians and doctors to society. These individuals will serve their duties as to improve the well-being of the whole community. Secondly, it is those who received higher level education that possess healthier perspective of life. Thus they will dedicate their knowledge and their hard work to humanity.
In summary, the primary goal of university education is to satisfy students' needs of employment. However, it has a more profound and fundamental role in terms of individual well-being and social development.
