It is true that freedom is directly linked to arts creativity, regardless of which types involved. Personally, I believe that the government advisedly imposes limitations on the artwork produced with a view to preventing social consequences that possibly crop up.
To commence with, many temporary artists base their work on their flow of imagination and motivation. However, some of these inspirations are often regarded as strange ideas and they probably cross the acceptable cultural fabric of the society. In fact, they are likely to create unusual objects in an effort to increase the visual impact, irrespective of audiences’ feelings. For example, some motion pictures and art exhibitions include explicit nudity scenes and images, which are seen as a taboo in several regions. As such, it is necessary that governments place control over such materials; otherwise, this kind of modern art will definitely dominate the popular culture and the traditional one will be threatened and potentially damaged.
Equally importantly, art censorship is certainly indispensable when it comes to the influence that arts may bring about. It is undeniable that arts have a profound impact on the development of viewers, especially the youth. To be more specific, erotic contents, excessive violence and coarse language use in numerous songs and movies are believed to cause similar behavior and thoughts of children who are effortlessly receptive to these contents. Needless to say, the role of authorities is to censor all the harmful contents or even prohibit this piece of art for the sake of young people.
To sum up, if artists are allowed to express every idea they come up with, they will engender some social problems related to the traditional value and children’s personality. Only by government’s strict censorship on arts will freedom of expression be guaranteed to come with responsibility.
