Essay topic:
Ecological balance is impossible to achieve when technological progress constantly ruins our environment. Do you agree?
There is a genuine concern that the ecological disturbance from which, the whole world is suffering from, these days is mainly related to the technological progress that has been recently achieved. Advocates of this view consider the technology as the primary enemy to the environment. Yet, the opponents have a strong argument against this perception. According to them, technology must be exploited to help humanity ameliorate their life style and build a better living environment.
Those standing at the technology side, perceive that it can simply help us to come up with alternatives sources of energy, to replace traditional ones. Traditional sources, originated from the petroleum products were proved to have a ruining effects on the health of the human being, causing enormous levels of pollution, in its various shapes. Unless scientific researches are encouraged and carried out vigorously, no achievements could ever be realized in this regard.
Nevertheless, the opposite view deems the technology as the worst adversity to the environment and the stability of the ecological system. The more the world steps forward in inventing advanced machines, vehicles, weapons, etc..., the more the negative impact on the environment exacerbates. The argument is based on the fact that the level of pollution is always directly proportional to the modernity and the advancement of the technology.
Moreover, world wars have become more accentuated and probably much more effective than ever, and thus leaving an increased number of casualties in their aftermath. If we try to envision, the reason behind this factual evolution, we will find the technology standing behind. Omnipotent powers in the world are always working on enhancing their weapons striving to make them more powerful, effective and having exceptional devastating capabilities. This help them contend with any possible threat that they can face. Certainly, the technological progress on this track is invoking numerous negative consequences on the ecology and the environment.
To conclude, I would think that 'yes', the technology might be beneficial in some situations, where humans are using it in the correct direction. However, in most cases, the situation is not controllable and leashing the wings of the technology becomes quite difficult and maybe impossible, and thus turns out to be harmful leaving a good number of negative effects on the environments
