Essay topic:
Some people believe that secondary school children should study international news as a subject. other say that this is wasting time. Discuss both view and give your opinion.
It is a fact that the ability to keep up-to-date with worldwide news is essential for people in modern society. However, whether these news should be included in secondary schools as a subject has raised different arguments among people of concern.
People in favor of this idea claim that learning from international news can help children gain much more social knowledge. For all intents and purposes, it would be crucial for them in their career ladder later on. The fact remains that many students just concentrate on studying from books and are lack of common sense. Definitely, it would be extremely difficult for them to work effectively and flexibly in the future. Additionally, reading these news would, without doubt, improve the verbal ability. They can learn a wide range of academic vocabulary. Using these words and summarizing the news in front of their classmates also bolster their ability of organizing ideas and giving presentation.
just as a coin has two sides, so does this opinion. There is a possibility that at their age with limited basic knowledge, secondary students cannot fully understand the complicated issues happening around the world. If they do not grasp it, their precious time would be spent unreasonably. When it comes to the huge amount of information students have to take from the basic subjects at their school, it would certainly be a bad idea to add one more subject to already overwhelmed studies.
By and large, I am for the idea that this implementation is much more suitable for students in universities, not for secondary ones. Although the benefits of studying global news outweigh its drawbacks, the cognitive ability and condition of students also deserve further consideration.
